Thank you for visiting.

Hello, my name is Othen Donald Dale Cummings. My mother had a disabling stroke a few years ago. I began care-giving for mom and we started doing art and writing projects together.
We call these projects "A Pet Banana Production" and they have given my mother hours of joy during her recovery.
This blog is a collection of these projects and also some random stuff we enjoy sharing. We have self published many of the stories and poetry I have written for and with my mother and would love for you to check them out!
Thank you and if you buy one of our books it is very appreciated because every sale helps us immensely!

Old jack Darn

Old Jack is quite the spinster.

A wish from a dream

A wish from a dream,
From the night sky
Here we come,
Look at us fly

A wish from afar,
Inside we are just ice
But to small children,
We look fluffy and nice

A wish from heaven,
We swirl down and around
Darting and dancing,
Covering up the ground

A wish from outside,
Over here over there
Soft and gentle we land,
All around and everywhere

We are little snowflakes
Down onto earth we fall,
A wish from a dream
A white Christmas for all!

Little Don Ditty

Little Don Ditty
Had a girlfriend or two,
He kissed one on the cheek
And he said, “I love you.”

She kissed him back
And said, “What about two?”
He laughed, “I know not,
But I guess we're through.”

Two didn’t like that
But she laughed, “Tee Hee!”
One didn’t know this,
Two knew there were three!

Old Jack Darn

Old Jack Darn,
Spin That Yarn,
Weave a dream from re-al-la-tee;
When he spins his tale,
He believes it as well,
Then he entwines you and me.

Oh Merry Mockingbird

My mother and I love the birdsong of springtime. I hoped to capture the mystique and beauty of the wonderful mimicking Mockingbird with my words.

I Want To Tweet The World A Merry Christmas

If I could write a yuletide song
I would let you sing along
If I could pen a holiday poem
I would read it to you from home
If I could say a jolly rhyme
I would repeat it all the time

But what I really want to do
What I really wish to do

I want to TWEET the world a Merry Christmas at HASHTAG #JoyToYou
Tweet the world
Tweet the world
I want to TWEET the world a Merry Christmas
A Merry Christmas at HASHTAG #JoyToYou

If I could ring and jingle bells
I would sing about Noel
If I could hang a ribbon and bow
I would read about Mistletoe
If I could bring about some laughter
I would repeat it ever after

But what I really want to do
What I really wish to do

I want to TWEET the world a Merry Christmas at HASHTAG #JoyToYou
Tweet the world
Tweet the world
I want to TWEET the world a Merry Christmas
A Merry Christmas at HASHTAG #JoyToYou
And a Happy New Year!

Milk Dud

I just want to say,
I’m sorry I have been a WHEY.

It’s just life makes me curdle
All because I’m spoiled
From being hard boiled.

Will I ever get on top?
Since I’m such a milksop?
These thoughts I won’t UDDER
I’m sure I will get BUTTER!

Poetic license?
Poetic apology?
Poetic justice?
~Othen

Where did it go?

The chair rocks back
And forward again,
I look and I wonder
I can’t remember when,

Children are playing
With so much joy,
Young men and women
All looking so coy,

Onward I travel and see
Many places and things
My mind drifts backwards
Cheer and sadness it brings,

Shadows dance from the light of the lamp
The evening grows long
But here I sat enticed and entranced,

Escaping the cold night's air
All wrapped and snug in my shoal
Looking at the past from the present
Taking my time searching my soul,

As I thumb through my photo album
Under the light's soft gentle glow
All of these memories make me wonder
Where did it go?
Where did it go…?

The Man Made Of Rocks From Mars!

On this planet lived a Man made of ROCKS! “Where are you going in such a hurry?” asked the Man made of Rocks.
“We are on an AMAZING space race to the end of The Universe to see who is the fastest!” said Astronaut One and Astronaut Two.
“That is SUPER!” said the Man made of Rocks. “I shall join your space race because my rocket ship is the fastest of them all!”

On this planet lived a Man made of RINGS! “Why are you going so fast past my planet?” shouted the Man made of Rings.
“We are racing to the end of The Universe to see who is the fastest!” they shouted. “I am the fastest,” said the Man made of Rings. “I will join your AWESOME space race!”
